Sara Konrad Baranowski
Editor, Iowa Falls Times Citizen
Sara Konrad Baranowski is editor of the Times Citizen in Iowa Falls, where she oversees a newsroom staff of five, reports and photographs the news, and – when needed – types up garden club minutes and delivers newspapers to subscribers. Baranowski, an Iowa native, earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Iowa universities before setting out to become a big-city reporter. After stints at two dailies, she found her way to the twice-weekly Times Citizen in rural Iowa. Since 2006, she’s overseen redesigns of the newspaper; launched two digital newsletters; overhauled the website twice; and integrated social media in day-to-day operations. Under her leadership, the Times Citizen has won more than 120 state and national awards. Baranowski is passionate about quality community journalism and the impact it can have on her coworkers, her community and herself. She and her husband, who also works in media, are parents of twins.
