Melissa has worked in journalism in a variety of editing and audience roles for more than 15 years. As Head of Newsroom Development at The Globe and Mail, Canada’s national news organization, Melissa is responsible for ensuring the people, skills, culture, and budget of the newsroom are aligned with our goals and ensuring our future success. This is a masthead position that involves working with teams across the organization and includes hiring, succession planning, building talent pipelines, newsroom structure, training, DEI initiatives and overall strategy.

Previously, Melissa managed a team of 15 journalists who identify daily news priorities and optimize content for homepage, SEO, newsletters, social media and the newspaper.

Melissa is constantly managing and advocating for change. She also has two young daughters who make sure she doesn’t forget to have fun.
