Scout CEO and Founder Erin Peterson is working to promote stories that inspire change. She’s got extensive experience with storytelling, journalism, video production, solutions-based messaging, social media, documentaries, podcasting, coaching, and building teams of content creators. At Scout, we tell emotional and revealing stories that help people understand complicated issues. Our goal is to expose problems and offer tangible solutions supported by facts, research, and compelling narratives.

After graduating from the University of Texas, Peterson worked her way up the local and cable news ladder as a News Producer, Executive Producer, and Director of Innovation. She’s led a national docuseries team as well as award-winning shows, investigations, podcasts, and data teams.

Beyond being a 27-time Emmy award winning journalist, Peterson is also an AFA National Finalist in Persuasive Speaking and public speaking coach. Her mission is creating smart and engaging storytelling with impact. One of those stories helped change a federal law and VA policy. Her work is used as an educational tool for the U.S. State Department. You might have seen it featured on “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” “Today Show,” and A&E’s “Intervention,” among others. She’s also earned the prestigious duPont Columbia award for Investigative Journalism, 3 National Murrows, a Cronkite award, and 5 Gracie awards.

Peterson volunteers her time mentoring young women, teaching journalism and occasionally moonlights as a certified yoga instructor.
