Elizabeth Dunbar is an accomplished journalist seeking to improve local journalism in the Midwest to increase communities’ capacity to collectively tackle problems. As a reporter for MPR News, she has covered one of those problems – climate change – in innovative ways. Most recently, Dunbar has used various audience engagement strategies to explore climate change through the lens of agriculture and the food system. She has engaged rural farmers and Twin Cities consumers in a closed Facebook discussion, serving their information needs and letting their curiosities drive her coverage. She’s also a union leader within her newsroom and participated in ONA’s 2019 Women’s Leadership Accelerator. She grew up in Iowa and spent her early career with The Associated Press in Minneapolis, Louisville, Ky., and Raleigh, N.C.
