Alex Newman is an interactive journalist and editor specializing in data visualization, multimedia and user experience.
She is currently the senior editor of interactives at FiveThirtyEight.
Most recently, she’s worked as a visual editor at the Wall Street Journal. Previous positions include: digital executive editor for public radio show The World; Al Jazeera America; the Pew Charitable Trusts; Home Front Communications; USA TODAY and the Reno-Gazette Journal. She is also teaching data journalism at Hunter College in New York City.
She grew up in Reno, Nevada (Ne-VAH-DUH, not Nuh-VA-DAH) and shares her apartment with a pet tortoise, Capt. Ahab, and a pandemic cat, Ham Sandwich.
